Contest Rules and Regulations
Official rules for the contest are below. The contest is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). - TO ENTER
- Pledges will be accepted from August 2, 2010 to September 24, 2010.
- Visit www.trytransitweek.com and fill out the pledge form on the contest registration page or request a pledge form by contacting the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) by phone (804) 786-4440, by e-mail at DRPTPR@drpt.virginia.gov, by fax at (804) 225-3752 or by mail at Public Information Office, DRPT, 600 East Main Street, Suite 2102, Richmond, VA 23219.
- Pledge forms must be submitted via e-mail, mail, fax or the Internet by 11:00 p.m. Eastern time on September 24, 2010.
- Contest sponsor does not assume responsibility for:
- Late, lost, misdirected, damaged, incomplete or illegible entries
- Telephone, electronic, hardware, software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, delays or difficulties
- Errors in transmission
- Events beyond the control of the sponsor which may impact a participant's ability to submit a registration form
- Printing or typographical errors
- All information provided on the registration form is warranted by the participant to be correct. The sponsor assumes no responsibility for false information that may result in disqualification or the inability to claim contest prize. False information provided by a participant shall constitute a basis for revocation of any prize awarded.
- If requested, personal information provided by participants such as name, address, phone and email address will not be shared with a third party without the consent of the participant.
- Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the contest if it determines that the integrity of the contest is corrupted.
- Limit one entry per person.
- Odds of winning depend upon the number of pledges received.
- Odds of winning do not depend upon the type of transit used.
- Contest sponsor assumes no responsibility whatsoever concerning telework relating to this contest, including but not limited to any necessary approvals from participant’s employer for teleworking, or any disciplinary actions arising from unauthorized telework. Contest participants are solely responsible for securing any and all necessary approvals and authorizations to telework from their respective employer.
- ELIGIBILITY
- The contest is open to all Virginia residents, 18 years of age or older.
- Employees, officers, directors, or other representatives of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation or any transit partner in the Commonwealth, as well as immediate family members (parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren and any other persons residing in the same household) of such persons, are not eligible to win the contest.
- HOW TO WIN AND CLAIM PRIZE
- The contest winner will be randomly selected and will be notified by September 27, 2010.
- Winner will be notified by phone and/or email.
- If contest winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, refuses the prize or fails to claim the prize by 3:00 p.m. on September 29, 2010, an alternative winner will be selected.
- To receive the prize, the contest winner must be able to present a valid form of identification to the contest sponsor before the prize is awarded.
- Once the winner's eligibility is validated, the winner will select the transit operator of his/her choice. Contest sponsor will work with selected organization to obtain a pass valid for one year of service, and with Amtrak to procure the necessary travel vouchers for two round-trip tickets. See prize information for more details.
- Winner consents to the use of his/her name and city of residence for publicity and commercial purposes with out further compensation unless prohibited by law.
- Winner's name will be posted on www.trytransitweek.com.
- PRIZE
- Contest prize is:
- A one year pass to use the selected transit operator's service for free, value not to exceed $3,500.
- Transit operator must operate service in Virginia.
- Prize will remain valid for one year from the date of issuance.
- Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and not exchangeable for cash or other prizes.
- Winner will report any issues, concerns or malfunctions of the transit pass to the transit operator.
- Two free round-trip tickets for one trip on any Amtrak Virginia route.
- Winner will choose departure and arrival location for one trip within the selected route.
- Winner is responsible for all other travel expenses.
- Travel must be booked within one year of the date of issuance.
- Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and not exchangeable for cash or other prizes.
- Additional Amtrak terms and conditions may apply.
- Winner will report any issues, concerns or malfunctions of the round trip tickets to Amtrak.
- A one year pass to use the selected transit operator's service for free, value not to exceed $3,500.
- Contest prize is:
- ADDITIONAL TERMS
- All federal, state and/or local laws apply.
- Void where prohibited.
- Contest winner is responsible for any and all taxes associated with the acceptance of the contest prize.
- Contest winner accepts all liabilities relating to acceptance and use of the contest prize. Contest sponsor accepts no liability or responsibility for damages, losses or injuries of any kind resulting from acceptance or use of the contest prize.
- Contest sponsor reserves the right to modify these rules for clarification purposes without affecting the terms and conditions of the contest.
