The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) and transit operators across the Commonwealth celebrated the first annual, statewide Try Transit Week from September 22 to 25, 2008. For its first year as a statewide event, Try Transit Week was a success with more than 1,700 Virginians pledging to try a form of transit.
DRPT sponsored the statewide event to encourage Virginians to stop driving alone and try one of the variety of transit options available such as bus and rail service, carpools, vanpools or telework.
While Try Transit Week 2008 is over, the benefits of using transit never stop! Using transit is a smart, economical and environmentally-friendly choice to get from here to there.
